Description

  • Accurately diagnose and treat attachment-related conditions
  • Discover tools for effectively assessing the four attachment styles in your clinical practice
  • Apply attachment treatment strategies across all developmental life stages

What we have learned about attachment in recent years is dramatically changing how we help people heal from painful life problems. Some of the following common relational problems seen in adults can be traced back to attachment issues:

  • Lack of commitment
  • Inability to develop emotional intimacy
  • Difficulty accessing and expressing emotion

This seminar will give you in-depth insight into attachment theory, the benefits of healthy attachments and the consequences of unhealthy ones. Learning to view developmental issues (infancy through old age) through the lens of attachment theory will significantly expand your therapeutic treatment options.

As a specialist in attachment-related issues, Gary Gilles will walk you through the foundational principles of attachment theory and show the relevance to each developmental stage in the life cycle. These principles of attachment will then be applied to techniques for accurately assessing attachment styles in childhood, adolescence and adulthood and diagnosing problematic conditions with attachment roots. Strategies for effective treatment interventions will be discussed for each attachment style and developmental stage of life. Case studies will illustrate common attachment scenarios faced by clinicians and provide proven treatment approaches for facilitating attachment. You will leave the seminar with a solid working knowledge of attachment-related diagnostic and treatment strategies that can be immediately applied in your clinical practice. You will also have the opportunity to explore your own attachment style, its origin and how this relational style impacts your personal and client relationships.
